Mathematics Department Scholarship


The Mathematics Department Scholarship was established in May of 2003.


The mission of the Mathematics Department at Pellissippi State Community College is to provide students the opportunity to develop mathematical and analytical skills necessary to attain educational goals and pursue lifelong learning. To fulfill this mission, the Mathematics Department provides:

  • College mathematics courses through the associate’s degree level
  • Educational support for students, including instruction in the appropriate use of technology
  • Professional growth opportunities for the faculty

In order to qualify for a scholarship provided from the Pellissippi State Community College – Mathematics Department Endowment Fund, a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate financial need, but will not require compliance with state of financial aid guidelines. 
  2. Have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in Mathematics courses and an overall grade point average of 3.0. 
  3. Have a pre/corequisite of second semester Calculus.
  4. Be enrolled as a full-time student.

The amount of the scholarship will vary based on the funds that are available.



Since 2011, 17 students have been awarded for a total of $8,250.
