Music Scholarships at Pellissippi State

We have a wonderful tradition of outstanding music at Pellissippi State. From our variations choir, to beautiful instrumental music, to bluegrass and jazz, Pellissippi State is a place with a tradition of excellence in music.  Each year, we give well over 100 music scholarships to support our talented students who are led by a passionate and gifted group of faculty.

Listen to Pellissippi State’s Variations perform “Cloudburst”.

We have several music scholarships available including:

  • The General Music Scholarship
  • The George H. Brinks Music Scholarship – George had a passion for good music and knowing that music was a great tool to help keep the mind sharp, kept classical music playing throughout his home twenty-four hours a day. He enjoyed attending the musicals at Pellissippi State and looked forward to the Holiday Spectacular in December each year.
  • The Joe and Judy Johnson Scholarship in honor of Mary Costa – Joe and Judy Johnson are longtime supporters of Pellissippi State. Joe was chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2013.  They established a scholarship in honor of Mary Costa who was born in Knoxville and is well-known for her role of Disney’s Princess Aurora and for performing in 44 operatic roles on stages throughout the world.
  • Bill and Sharon Brewer Music Scholarship – Bill Brewer began his career as a Music Minister serving several churches in South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee. However, he found his true calling and passion in the academic world as the Music Department Program Coordinator and Choral Conductor at Pellissippi State Community College. It was there that he provided vision and grew and nurtured a Music Department that will have a lasting impact on the future of many current and former students.

We hope you will consider giving to one of these music scholarships and impacting the lives of one of our music students. You can select a music scholarship below to contribute to.
