Support Staff and Child of Support Staff Scholarships
We are blessed to have such an amazing and talented group of support staff employees at Pellissippi State. The Support Staff Council advocates and provides professional development and scholarship opportunities for the support staff of Pellissippi State Community College. As a council, the support staff members have the right and obligation to participate fully and actively in the determination of policies pertaining to support staff matters, and to the well-being of the College.
The Support Staff Council supports two scholarships, the Support Staff Scholarship and the Child of Support Staff Scholarship. To be eligible for consideration for the Support Staff Scholarship, a student must full-time and be majoring in Administrative Professional Technology with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. The student must also have verifiable financial need and have a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, college faculty advisor, teacher or other recognized professional such as an employer. The scholarship provides a $350 award. Since its inception, 26 students have received the Support Staff Scholarship.
The Child of Support Staff Scholarship was established in June of 2010. To be considered for this scholarship a student must be full-time, must be the child of a support staff employee and must have a recommendation letter. This scholarship provides $500 per semester. Since its inception, the Child of Support Staff Scholarship has been awarded to 57 students.
