PSCC Debate League Scholarship

The PSCC Debate Team has only been in existence for two years but has already received several top awards in competitions. In October of 2017, Pellissippi State’s team took home the Top Community College Award for the National Parliamentary Debate Association Competition. Since then, the team has consistently performed well in other competitions. Students interested in participating can contact Shaquille O’Neil at somarsh@pstcc.edu.

The PSCC Debate League Scholarship was created to assist current members of the PSCC Debate Team offset the cost of attendance at PSCC. The donor and founder of the Pellissippi State Debate program, Shaquille (Shaq) O’Neal Marsh, is an Alabama native. Shaq earned an associate’s degree from Enterprise State Community College in Enterprise, Alabama, a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Broadcast Journalism from Troy University in Troy, Alabama and a master’s degree in communication from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Shaq joined Pellissippi State Community College during August 2016 as a tenure-track Communication Studies Instructor. He is dedicated to student success.

The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time or part-time student currently on the PSCC Debate Team with at least a 2.5 GPA. The student must have been on the PSCC Debate Team for at least one semester and have demonstrated financial.

Thus far, two students have received $500 scholarships.
