Pellissippi State Motorsports was founded by a group of dedicated engineering students with an immense passion for motorsport and vehicle technologies in the fall of 2017. The word was spread and the team has been growing since. The team is currently establishing goals for their research, simulation, design, and construction of a Formula SAE car. Pellissippi State Motorsports is working diligently to train team members and establish resources to have a car ready for the 2020 season competition.
Any form of motorsports is an expensive endeavor. Like all other racing teams, Pellissippi State Motorsports will heavily rely on corporate partnerships and community support to provide the team with turning research into success. Having this support will not only ensure the longevity of the team, but will enable Pellissippi State Motorsports to explore more technological paths for different sections of the car, giving us the experience we need to guarantee exponential growth and success for years to come. Formula SAE is very unique in that students will apply skills they develop in their classes to real world engineering problems and challenges, with competitive rules, to build and develop a functional formula race car, making this far more than a simple motorsport and driving competition. Ultimately, these students will represent the future of vehicle engineering.
Special thanks to Eric Barton and Barton Racing for their support.
