The Wilson Family Legacy Scholarship Endowment Fund is this Monday’s Scholarship of the Week.
On July 13, 1985, Peggy Mahan and her children, Donald and Melissa, became a blended family with Joseph Wilson, and his son, Gregory. As the family grew, Donald had a daughter, Madyson. Melissa had two children, Bryson and Ava. More grandchildren will be forthcoming from Gregory. This fund is setup to honor the Wilson and Mahan children and grandchildren.
In order to qualify for the Wilson Family Legacy Scholarship, a student must:
1) Be full or part-time (minimum six hours) in any field of study. If part-time, the award amount will be prorated based on number of hours taken.
2) Receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his or her college faculty advisor, teacher, or other recognized professional such as his or her advisor. This requirement is waived for renewal of the scholarship.
3) Have demonstrated financial need with a preference given to students whose need is certified by the FAFSA. Exceptions may be made by the Pellissippi State Director of Financial Aid when other evidence is presented.
4) Maintain a cumulative Pellissippi State GPA of 2.80. This requirement would not apply to a recipient prior to completion of their first semester of attendance at Pellissippi State.
A total of $1,000 will be awarded to a student meeting the scholarship requirements, in equal installments of $500 for both fall and spring semesters.
