Scanners are available for student use in the Open Labs located on each campus. These are flatbed scanners that support scanning books, photographs and other paper documents.
Faculty and staff can use college copiers to scan documents into PDF format and save them to a USB drive. ETS also has a high speed document scanner available for faculty and staff. This scanner can scan two-sided documents and save them in a variety of formats including using optical character recognition (OCR) to convert the printed document into editable text. The accuracy of the OCR process will vary with the quality of the original document. ETS also has a flatbed and negative scanner for digitizing photographs, slides and negatives, if necessary.
Some academic and business offices also have scanners for employee work purposes. NTS computer technicians assist with the installation and configuration of the scanners. If you have need for a scanner to add documents to the Banner Document Management Suite (BDMS), please contact the HelpDesk to schedule a consultation with the appropriate Information Services staff member.
