Understanding the Teams and Outlook Presence Icons

Presence is part of a user’s profile in Microsoft Teams (and Office 365). Presence indicates your current availability and status to others at the College.

By default, anyone using Teams can see (in nearly real time) if you are available online. Presence is updated in real time on the web and desktop versions when you refresh the page on mobile.

There are three colors of the presence indicators: Red, Green and Yellow. There are other subtle changes that help distinguish a bit more detail about your status.

Busy (in a call or meeting)
Do not disturb (in a meeting or call)
Away (with time away displayed)
Be Right Back
Appear offline (shows up when you logged into any device for a few minutes)
