Helping Students with Dyslexia Reach their Full Potential

October 28 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. Did you know that as many as 15–20% of the population as a whole exhibit some of the symptoms of dyslexia? Dyslexia occurs in people of all backgrounds and intellectual levels, and with proper instruction and accommodations, it can be remediated. Yet, according to The Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity, many of those with dyslexia remain undiagnosed and untreated, particularly in African-American and Latino communities.

Please join Ann Satkowiak, Director, and Alice Wershing, Technology Specialist, in our Disabilities Services department, on October 28 (1-2pm) via Teams as we commemorate Dyslexia Awareness Month. Participants will learn more about dyslexia, accommodations for students with dyslexia, and available resources to ensure equal access to the full school experience for students with dyslexia.

Pre-reading assignment is available at What is Reading?

If your schedule permits, please arrive 10 minutes early to participate in a pre-quiz activity to see what you know about dyslexia and possibly earn a prize.

Please contact profdev@pstcc.edu if you have any questions or we can be of assistance. Thanks!
