Keeping Ahead of Student Needs with Intelligent Agents

October 26 @ 2:15 pm - 3:15 pm EDT

Presenter: Anna Matsen, English faculty

In addition to reminding students to log into a Brightspace course, Intelligent Agents can be a great way to reduce common student errors by providing key guidance early in an assignment. It can also be a way to provide students with important reminders, such as how to double-check the instructions for a submission or how to see instructor feedback. Using Intelligent Agents this way increases engagement with students, reduces student stress, and reduces instructor workload by cutting down on questions and confusion in a course. I will present ways I’ve used Intelligent Agents that other instructors may also find useful. The pedagogical benefits of using these agents, both for instructors and for students, will be discussed, and attendees will have a chance to create an intelligent agent themselves in one of their courses.
